Book 1 in Leaving the Game Series

When she was a child, he was her hero. When she grew up, he was her dream.

Charlotte Rose has loved Runner Jeffries since she was five years old. Her best friend. Her protector. Her constant companion who left town to become a Major League star.

Late-night phone calls. Texts about nothing. He hasn’t gone a week without her voice in his ear since he was thirteen. He has no idea she’s been building a life with him in her head, brick by brick, the whole time.

Now Charlotte is a Cornell-educated attorney with a life waiting in New York, ready for Runner to see the woman she’s become. When he comes home to their small Colorado town with a fiancée, a woman he’s never mentioned, her future collapses.

But she’s not the girl he left behind. When she tells him she’s fallen in love, something dark and unfamiliar uncurls in his chest. He demands a name.

As they say goodbye, she leans in and gives him four words.

“Look in the mirror.”

Back in New York, Runner can think of nothing else. The Firefly he was supposed to protect is the woman he can’t stop wanting. He’s engaged to the wrong woman. The only one he can see is the one he was never supposed to want.

Now that his eyes are open, the girl he always protected is the one he wants. To claim his Firefly, he’ll have to burn down his whole world.

A tender, deeply emotional friends-to-lovers romance about devotion, and the courage to reach for forever.

What people are saying about Stealing Runner’s Heart

How do you continue the awesome love stories that started with Thunder Snow? The children are grown up and finding love. Stealing Runner’s Heart continued the love story that started with Callie and Jack that started the entire Thunder On The Mountain Series.

This story takes us through the trials and triumphs of Charlotte Rose and Runner as Runner has to grapple with the idea that Charlotte Rose is all grown up and no longer qualifies as a “little sister.” Just as things seem to be looking up, tragedy strikes and Charlotte Rose has to do all in her power to bring back the Runner she knows and loves.

Great story and very well written by Mimi Foster. There is a saying that you can’t improve on perfection but I think that Ms. Foster has figured out how to do it with each book she adds to this series. Theresa Rodriguez

Stealing Runner’s Heart by Mimi Foster was an excellent read that had everything I look for in a romance novel—passion, drama, heartbreak, and a beautiful love story.

Charlotte knew from a young age exactly who she wanted, and her unwavering love for Runner made her such an easy character to root for. Runner’s journey took a little longer, but watching him navigate his feelings and eventually find his way back to Charlotte made the story all the more rewarding.

The emotional depth of this book truly stood out. The tragic loss woven into the story was heartbreaking and added a layer of realism and vulnerability that pulled me in even deeper. One of my favorite aspects was how a young boy became the catalyst for healing, helping Runner mend his broken heart and ultimately leading him back to the woman who had loved him all along.

Mimi Foster did a wonderful job blending romance, undeniable chemistry, emotional healing, and family into a story that kept me invested from beginning to end. If you enjoy heartfelt romances with plenty of steam, drama, and a satisfying emotional payoff, Stealing Runner’s Heart is definitely worth reading. D. Beck

I stayed up late to finish Stealing Runners Heart last night and have added it to my favorites. The problem with Mimi’s books is that when I think I have a favorite the next one comes along and becomes another favorite. Stealing Runner’s Heart is no exception. I’m looking forward to Mimi’s next book. Carol Williams
