You get what you pay for
When I published my first book, Thunder Snow, I wasn’t aware how truly cruel people could be who sat in anonymity behind the protection of a keyboard. My skin wasn’t very tough that first month or so, and I was surprised at the personal attacks people could make.
Even though this is still one of my favorite books, I’ve come a long way since then (better writer, thicker skin). But I have to admit there was an early one-star review that made me smile.
Knowing that people’s reading preferences are different, I have always made it a point to make sure my “steamier” books have a warning in the description. You can’t really miss the bold – SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT – but I guess some people don’t read the summary. This review made me laugh out loud. It was so offensive she had her husband read it!
I might have enjoyed the book if it had not been so overly sexual !! I really should have read the reviews all the way through!! I’m not someone who needs a blow by blow description of someone’s sex scene!! I had rather have more left for the imagination!! In fact the book became disgusting, and I put it aside!! As not fit for anyone I know for their reading pleasure!! When I’m asked about it, I will tell them the truth, that in my opinion the book is filth!! My husband is an author, and when he read it his comments on the scenes are not repeatable!! I will say he too called it trash!!
Thank you, ma’am. You made my day 😉
